who is Goddess Mahakali…?

Goddess Kali is the main deity of Tantra. She is the goddess of beauty and compassion. Her fierce, heart-stirring appearance actually represents true love. In India, Goddess Kali is one of the most widely worshipped deities. She is a fierce form of Goddess Sati, the wife of Lord Shiva. When she is with Lord Shiva, she looks like a princess. However, when she has to destroy demons, she takes on a very fierce form, which is known as her Kali form. She is the mother who protects you from all your enemies and makes them your friends. However, those who are sinners and promote unrighteousness (adharma) are destroyed by her.

Goddess Kali may look terrifying, but a devotee who sees the love in her eyes can understand her true form. Her terrifying appearance is only for the salvation of demons, but the motherly love flowing from her eyes is always meant for her children. Goddess Bhagwati Kali took on this fierce form solely to protect the gods. She destroys all our enemies, whether they are external enemies or the internal demons living within us, such as lust, anger, and greed. This is because Goddess Kali protects us from all kinds of negativity.

She resides in the cremation ground, where negative energies like ghosts and spirits live. All these entities fear Goddess Kali and bow their heads before her. Ghosts, spirits, and demons dance before the goddess because she is Jagdamba, the mother of all living beings, whether they are gods or demons; they are all equal to her. Another name for Goddess Kali is Bhuvneshwari, which means she is the ruler of this universe, or the mother who gave birth to the world.

It is very easy to please the Goddess. Generally, she is pleased by pure, loving devotion alone. However, you can also please her through rituals, prayers, or chanting mantras. This includes reciting the Chandi-path or chanting hymns (Devi Stotra). Performing prayers or rituals according to the rules of the Navarna Mantra, “Om Aim Hreem Kleem Chamundayai Vicche”, also pleases Goddess Kali. Just keep in mind that before chanting any mantra, you must seek the guidance of a qualified guru.Just as Goddess Kali destroyed demons like Shumbha-Nishumbha and Raktabeeja to grant fearlessness to the gods, she also blesses us with fearlessness. No matter what troubles come our way in this world, Goddess Kali always rescues us. All that is required is deep, unwavering faith in her. We should take inspiration from the devotion of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and try to become a devotee of Goddess Kali like him. It is said that he was such a great devotee that the Goddess would manifest herself the moment he called out to her; his faith was that deep. Such devotees of the Goddess are rarely born once in centuries.
